Went to look at Tombs of the Nobles on west bank of Aswan.
Irrigation system from the Nile for the Nubian villages on the west bank.
Top of the irrigation system.
Path up to the tombs, with Kubbet al-Hawa tomb at the top.
Tomb of Sarenput I (1965 - 1920BC).
Typical view into one of the smaller tombs. Tomb of Hekaib (C1900BC). I don't really like taking photos in the tombs themselves as I consider it disrespectful and would rather just remember what I've seen. Lots of tourists all taking photos really takes away from the dark, thoughtful spaces the tombs are supposed to be.
More of the Tomb of Hekaib, there were load of little spooky entrances and chambers everywhere. Many smelt of stale urine. Wasn't allowed in the big entrance on this photo.
Tomb of Sarenput II (approx 1922 - 1878BC under the reign of Amenemhat II).
The layout of the Tomb of Mekhu & Sabni, under reign of Pepi II (2278 - 2184BC).
View from the top at Kubbet al-Hawa, a small tomb for a local sheikh.
Another view from Kubbet al-Hawa.
Kubbet al-Hawa.
Good bay, thanks for visiting.
Another cheap Egyptian meal with the locals.
Would love to know what this says.
Rubbish cats.
Perhaps the graffiti is about an Archimedian screw? Lol!! X Ma
