I walked from The Hawthorns in West Bromwich to Villa Park in Aston for a Premier League football fixture.
Half way.
At Villa. It looks like the Jawas Sandcrawler off Star Wars.
Other end of Villa.
I went to have a look at M6 Junction 6 "Spaghetti Junction", while I was in the area. Walked there via Electric Avenue.
A38 Aston Expressway on/off and M6 North on (er...I think).
I am impressed at the scale of the structures, like some huge cathedral but with arguably a greater purpose for the interrelationship between human beings (ie it allows human beings to get to see each other more easily).
The junction is constantly in motion, vehicles driving round and round, never ceasing.
Every one a different story, a different reason for travelling.
The continuous noise echoing around the structure. The hiss and rumble of tyres on tarmac.
Hour after hour, day after day, decade after decade.
I saw a Kestrel flying around, perching beneath the road, near to a structural bearing. One of the most beautiful and graceful of Englands native falcons, and it didn't seem out of place with the grace of the columns and sweeping curves of the junction structure.
Graf on the way back to Aston, beneath the Expressway.
Possibly the worst luke warm curry goat with rice and pea I will ever have the misfortune of eating. Round the corner from the Villa ground.
Aston Villa 2 Albion 1
